Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about how we work, what we charge, and what we deliberately do not do.

Working with us

Are you a software vendor or reseller?

No. We are not a software vendor, reseller or distributor, and we hold no reseller, referral or affiliate agreements with any supplier. Our only income is the fee you agree to pay us, which means our recommendation does not change depending on what you buy.

Will you purchase software or manage accounts on my behalf?

No. Any software, subscription or hardware you decide on is purchased by you, in your name, with your payment details. We do not buy on your behalf, hold your credentials, or take control of your accounts at any point.

How do you calculate your fees?

Entry-level work is a fixed fee agreed in writing before anything starts, from £95. Larger pieces of work are quoted per project or per stage, and you can stop after any stage. We do not charge commission or take payment from suppliers.

Do you work on site or remotely?

Remotely by default, using video calls, telephone and email. Where a task genuinely needs someone present we will say so and quote the visit separately. Most engagements need no visit at all.

How do you handle our data?

We ask for the minimum we need to do the work, keep it in a single documented location, and delete it when the engagement ends and the statutory retention period has passed. We do not copy your systems, take extracts of your databases, or retain working files beyond that period. The full detail is in our privacy policy.

Can you work with the systems we already have?

Yes, and that is usually the point. Most engagements start by reviewing what is already in place and in use, rather than assuming replacement. We regularly recommend keeping existing tools and cancelling others.

Practical questions

How quickly can you provide a recommendation?

A written recommendation is typically delivered within two to three weeks of the scope being agreed. Simple reviews are often completed in under a week; larger multi-stage pieces of work run longer and are quoted accordingly.

What if we need help after the engagement ends?

Every engagement includes a follow-up period of 14 days for questions at no extra cost. After that, ongoing support is available as a monthly arrangement at £65, cancellable at any time with 30 days’ notice.

Do you offer security certification or compliance advice?

No. We do not hold security certifications and we do not issue accreditation, audit or compliance opinions. Where your situation calls for a specialist working under formal regulation, we will tell you that plainly and explain what kind of specialist you need.

Can you guarantee that nothing will go wrong?

No, and we would be cautious of anyone who did. We can explain what we compared, why we reached a recommendation, and what the known limitations are. We cannot guarantee the future behaviour of third-party services or promise that a given approach will never fail.

What areas do you cover?

We work remotely with individuals and small businesses across the United Kingdom. Where a particular piece of work requires physical attendance, we will confirm whether it is practical before you commit to anything.

How do we get started?

Send a short message describing what you are trying to decide. We reply within one working day, usually with a couple of questions and an indication of which entry point would suit. There is no charge for that exchange and no obligation to proceed.

If your question is not answered here, send it over. We will give you a straight answer, including when the honest answer is that our services would not add much to what you already have. Asking costs nothing.
